
WASHINGTON – Tonight, Senator Bernie Moreno’s (R-Ohio) attempt to pass theLarry Henderson Actby unanimous consent was blocked by Senate Democrats. The bill, which would increase penalties on criminals who assault police officers, is named after former Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Henderson, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in May 2025 while bravely serving his community.
“We can stop this – we can stop this today. Today can be a day that Americans watching – who have less and less faith in our government’s ability to come together to get things done – when they see bickering and arguing that they don’t quite understand what it is that we’re doing here; today is the day we can come together and say ‘we on both sides, not as Democrats or as Republicans, but as Americans – support law enforcement,” said Senator Moreno.
