Early Life
Senator Bernie Moreno was raised with a deep belief in the promise of America: that through grit, accountability, and faith in our nation, anything is possible. Bernie learned these values at a young age, and they instilled in him a lifelong commitment to the principles that make our country exceptional.
He built his life around family and service to Ohio. He and his wife, Bridget, have raised their family in the state and proudly call Ohio home.
Business Career & Serving Ohio
Before entering public service, Bernie spent decades as a successful entrepreneur and business leader in Ohio. He began his career at General Motors, where he quickly rose through the ranks and, at just 26 years old, became a general manager at one of the nation’s leading automotive dealership groups.
In 2005, Bernie invested everything he had into purchasing a car dealership near Cleveland. From that single investment, he built the Collection Auto Group into one of the largest dealership networks in the Midwest. Along the way, he created thousands of jobs, supported working families, and strengthened local communities across Ohio.
Bernie saw firsthand how Washington policies stacked the deck against American workers, rewarding multinational companies that outsourced labor and strangling small businesses with excessive regulation. Rather than accept that status quo, he co-founded CHAMP Titles to modernize vehicle title systems using blockchain technology and later launched Ownum, a company focused on secure digital infrastructure.
His commitment to Ohio extended beyond business. Bernie established the Sales Center for Excellence at Cleveland State University to help train the next generation of business leaders. He was inducted into the Cleveland Business Hall of Fame and served on the board of trustees for the MetroHealth System, supporting one of the region’s most important public health institutions.
Called to Service
Bernie Moreno is not a career politician. He is a businessman who took action when he saw Washington’s bureaucracy driving America off course.
He saw towns and communities across Ohio and the Midwest hollowed out as factories closed, jobs shipped overseas, and livelihoods were sacrificed at the altar of free trade. Washington’s bipartisan consensus prioritized global interests over American workers.
At the same time, he witnessed policies that threatened the foundation of the country: an open border fueled by mass, illegal immigration, government overreach through censorship and Covid lockdowns, and attacks on American innovators and their entrepreneurial spirit.
Bernie knew that if leaders in Washington wouldn’t stand up for American workers, families, and businesses, then someone else had to.
Fighting for Ohio in the Senate
In the Senate, Bernie Moreno is fighting every day to restore the American Dream and put Ohioans’ needs first.
Through his work on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Bernie is leading efforts to secure the southern border, stop illegal immigration, and restore law and order. He supports finishing the border wall, deploying military resources where necessary, designating Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, and ending policies that incentivize illegal entry.
On the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, Bernie is working to ensure that America leads in the future of finance and technology. Drawing on his private-sector experience, he is shaping pro-growth policies for digital assets and cryptocurrency.
As a member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, Bernie is a strong advocate for Ohio’s auto industry. He is fighting to rebuild domestic production, protect American companies from unfair foreign competition, and ensure that the industries that built Ohio—and America—remain strong for generations to come.
Bernie is also serving on the Senate Budget Committee, where he is working to rein in reckless spending, restore fiscal responsibility, and protect future generations from Washington’s unsustainable debt.
Above all, Bernie is focused on delivering real results for Ohioans—cutting through bureaucracy and fighting for workers, families, and small businesses who have been ignored for far too long.
He came to Washington to shake up a broken system. And he’s just getting started.
