WASHINGTON – In case you missed it, a new op-ed in Crain’s Cleveland Business praises Senator Bernie Moreno’s (R-Ohio) work to protect rural hospitals and increase Medicaid funding for Ohio in the One Big Beautiful Bill:

“As the united voice of Ohio’s hospital community, the Ohio Hospital Association is grateful for the provisions in the federal reconciliation bill that establish new financial resources for rural hospitals and extend Ohio’s Medicaid supplemental payment program through 2028. Critical changes in the final bill advanced by Sens. Jon Husted, Bernie Moreno and Reps. Troy Balderson and Bob Latta eliminated elements that would have triggered a cascade of immediate state Medicaid budget cuts, and the new Rural Health Transformation Fund was greatly expanded,” writes Mike Abrams, President and CEO of the Ohio Hospital Association. “Ohio’s delegation worked to expand the new Rural Health Transformation Fund to $50 billion over five years, allocating $10 billion each year over federal fiscal years 2026 through 2030.”
